"The Stars at night, are big and bright, (clap x 4) deep in the heart of Texas..."
I bet we see a lot of open skies during the day and at night on our trip. I can't wait for the quiet and peacefulness! I will let you brush up on your Google map skills to visualize the route, but here is the overall course that Rebecca will be taking in her run across the Lone Star State. As we mapped it out, we broke it up into 3 legs just to plan it in stages, but don't let it fool you...it's one continuous movement forward!
1st Leg:
START @ Westernmost Point of Texas (Garder Rd at TX/NM Border)
Around El Paso (Through the Franklin Mountains)
Cornudas
Pine Springs
Orla
Mentone

Around Odessa

2nd Leg:
Garden City
Sterling City

Bronte
Ballinger
Talpa

FINISH @ Easternmost Point of Texas (FM 63 to the Sabine River Bridge)
Whew! We will get to see a whole LOT of the state along the way - anywhere from 860-870 miles roughly.
Update on packing...Rebecca is just about DONE! I have made a good dent in it myself. I have toiletries and medical supplies for the most part done and started throwing clothes in a bin while making a list of items to collect together in the next few days.
Keith is busy building our van set up in their garage. It's coming together so good! Beds are built and the kitchen counter/work bench is almost done. He is working on shelving - every iota of space counts! Shout out to Jacy for letting us use ALL the bins to store our stuff in the van. Speaking of vans...we are renting a Ford Transit 250 cargo van from Hertz and good thing we checked on our reservation this past weekend. The branch we reserved at said they don't have vans so call another branch. We do and get the run around who said call another branch which we do and again...run around. We think we got it ironed out today (fingers crossed). Always a good thing to double check! :)
